Pastor Daren L. Barron, MBA, was born and raised in Oakland, California, and is the co-founder and Senior Pastor of World Conquerors Church. After clearly hearing God’s voice to start a church in the Oakland Hills, Pastor Daren was reluctant. His personal desire was to continue his lucrative career working in the software/telecommunications industry. However, the call of God was so strong on his life that he ultimately answered and accepted the challenge to build a church in partnership with his wife, First Lady Monnique Barron.

Starting WCC helped Pastor Darren discover his purpose in life:  To win souls and lead them to Christ through a practical message.  His goal as the Senior Pastor of WCC is to create a place where people could worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ across denominational lines and to build a cadre of servant leaders who are poised and ready to discover and respond to the needs of the local community and reach the world in a spirit of love and care.

Pastor Daren was ordained by Bishop Rufus K. Turner at Victory in Praise Church in Stockton, California where he served as Chairman of the Board and Associate Pastor.  The Barron family served Bishop Turner and Pastor Trena Turner in many capacities during their years at VIP, including serving on the leadership team and as Armor Bearers to the Bishop and First Lady.

Pastor Daren earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.  His value for education moved him to continue post-graduate studies.  He attended the University of Phoenix earning a Master of Management degree and is currently a Ph.D. candidate. In addition, Pastor Daren attended Fuller Theological Seminary, completing classes towards a Master of Divinity degree.

Pastor Daren married his lovely college sweetheart Monnique on March 30, 1991. Together they have five beautiful children: Drew, Maiyanna, Mone’t, Mariah, and Daren, Jr. (D.J.).

First Lady Monnique Barron was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and is the co-founder and Vice President of Operations at World Conquerors Church.  After hearing from Pastor Daren that the Lord was calling him to start a church in the Oakland Hills, First Lady Monnique slowly but surely became one of the key people used of God to encourage Pastor Daren to answer the call.  Although they were charting unknown waters, Lady Monnique believed the Word of God and knew that if God was planting this vision in her husband’s heart, that the provision to make the church become a reality would come from the Lord.

Co-founding WCC helped Lady Monnique discover the call on her life to use her teaching experience and educational training in psychology to home school her five children and work to build and strengthen the infrastructure of the church as a full-time job.  The Lord clearly showed her that she was not to work in corporate America, but that she was to serve as the helpmate to her husband and the primary person used of God to “raise up her children in the way that they should go so that when they get old they would not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

Lady Monnique’s testimony of God changing her from the inside out is one that blesses people near and far.  She speaks at women’s conferences, marriage retreats and is on occasion assigned by Pastor Daren to be the special guest speaker at WCC.  When she speaks her love, compassion and care for God’s people is evident.  She has a passion and a desire to ensure that people discover who they were born to be and fully operate in their purpose so that God’s will directs their journey in life.

Lady Monnique earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and is a life-long learner, attending conferences, workshops, classes and other learning opportunities to continue to build her knowledge, faith and understanding of God’s Word.  Lady Monnique and Pastor Daren were married on March 30, 1991 and were blessed with five wonderful children:  Drew, Maiyanna, Mone’t, Mariah, and Daren, Jr. (D.J.)
